Beautiful transformation

It’s a girl! ….It’s a Girl!! ….. Hallelujah!!
Finally my 3rd “baby” came out.
So beautiful with her red markings as compared to both her brothers dull orange spots.
Unfortunately, this one decided to come out in the wee early morning at 2.30am.
We were sleeping soundly when Michelle knocked on our bedroom door & shouted “The butterfly is out!” We hurriedly jumped out of bed & lo behold, there she was hanging her lovely wings to dry for us to admire.
Hmmmm…I felt so proud that all 3 had survived under my “motherly” care
.

Note the red colour markings on the lower portion of the wings & the different pattern white markings as compared to the other 2.

Showing of her wings before she flew away into the trees.

But like all parents, when it’s time to let go of our children, we just got to do it no matter how sad that may be.
On a more serious note, for those of you who are interested to know the scientific name of this species of butterfly, it is called :
Papilio Polytes Romulus (Common Mormon)
Thanks to this wonderful site : What’s That Bug? they were able to idenify it when I send them a photo of the butterfly. So, if you ever come across a bug, insect or whatever ugly looking critter & curious to know what the hell is that thing? Just email them a photo & they will try their very best to identify it……Cool huh?
My correspondence with them & my “babies” photos were also put up on their site :
Metamorphosis of the Common Mormon (02/11/2008)
Well, that’s the end of my story of my 1st attempt at raising caterpillars & watching them transform into beautiful butterflies.
It has been a wonderful experience for all of us & taught us the value of appreciating how wonderful nature is.
So, next time when you come across a caterpillar on your plant, please don’t kill it. Give it a chance to transform into something beautiful.
Will this be the end of my butterfly breeding days?
Do drop by & you’ll never know what will turn up next……………… ciao!
"You'll see that simplifying is not necessarily about getting rid of everything we've worked so hard for. It's about making wise choices among the things we now have to choose from. It's about recognizing that trying to have it all has gotten in the way of enjoying the things that truly do add to our happiness and well-being. So it's about deciding what's important to us, and gracefully letting go of the things that are'nt."
