About Me

I love cycling to the beach & go for walks with Irene.
Waiting for the day when we both retire & spend time together doing the things that we both enjoy most.

"You'll see that simplifying is not necessarily about getting rid of everything we've worked so hard for. It's about making wise choices among the things we now have to choose from. It's about recognizing that trying to have it all has gotten in the way of enjoying the things that truly do add to our happiness and well-being. So it's about deciding what's important to us, and gracefully letting go of the things that are'nt."

Watch the Rain

Received this lovely story from my email

One rainy afternoon I was driving along one of the main streets of town, taking those extra precautions necessary when the roads are wet and slick.
Suddenly, my daughter, Aspen, spoke up from her relaxed position in her seat.
“Dad, I’m thinking of something.”
This announcement usually meant she had been pondering some fact for a while, and was now ready to expound all that her six-year-old mind had discovered. I was eager to hear.
“What are you thinking?” I asked.
“The rain! ;” she began, “is like sin, and the windshield wipers are like God wiping our sins away.”
After the chill bumps raced up my arms I was able to respond.
“That’s really good, Aspen.”
Then my curiosity broke in. How far would this little girl take this revelation?
So I asked… “Do you notice how the rain keeps on coming? What does that tell you?”
Aspen didn’t hesitate one moment with her answer:
“We keep on sinning, and God just keeps on forgiving us.”
I will always remember this whenever I turn my wipers on.

In order to see the Rainbow, you must first endure some Rain

Worth it to repair or not?

Ixus 400

Seems like these days electronic stuffs just can’t seem to last long enough. I suspect a conspiracy among all electronic manufacturers to make things that have a short life span, affordable but the spare parts cost a bomb. This will convince consumers to buy newer models instead of repairing their defective ones. It’s any wonder that within a span of one year, you can easily find newer models releasing to the consumer market with only slight improvements……be it appearance or additional features that we hardly use.

Well, I for one got sucked into this dilemma recently. Mich’s digital camera bought about 2 years ago, decided to refuse to co-operate just before she left for London at the airport. The damn thing kept showing “memory card error”, no matter how many cards she tried replacing & even re-formatting all the cards. So she send it back & I tried to revive it by what ever method I can thing of. Finally, I decide to fully recharged the battery & voila! it worked….but only for a few shots & it showed “memory card error” on the LCD screen again. Did this a number of times but in the end it still refuse to work.

So, what other choice do I have but to send it back to the service centre & hope that it’s just a small problem to get it back alive again. Waited for a whole 7 days for their technician to call me & to tell me that they need to change the whole motherboard or something & it’s gonna cost $170. Nowadays, for a new digital camera with about similar features, one can get for around $400 – $500 tops. So, repair cost about 40% of new improved one & there’s no guarantee that it will last for another few years after repair…..which one would I choose??

Neither :-( ……..this is just the excuse that Mich is waiting for to get a 2 megapixel handphone camera, so that she won’t have to lug around a camera wherever she goes but instead just whip out her handphone & snap.

That’s High Tech for you.
