Pretzels – Soft

Ingredients :

2 teaspoons active dry yeast
1 cup warm water
3 cups bread flour
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoons salt
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 Cup hot water
3 Tbs baking soda
Cinnamon & sugar, grated cheese or sliced almonds for topping
Method :

Step 1 : Add all the ingredients (except water and baking soda at bottom of list) to a bread machine.

Step 2 : Set to dough cycle (mine runs 1 hr 10 mins).

Here you can see the dough just after the kneading process has completed.

And here you see the dough has doubled in size after the proofing process in the bread machine.

Step 3 : Take dough out and divide equally into 8 parts.

Step 4 : Roll the dough thinly like a snake.

Step 5 : Shape into pretzel shape.

Step 6 : Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C). In a large bowl, dissolve baking soda in hot water. Dip each pretzel into the baking soda solution.

Step 7 : Place on a greased baking sheet.

Step 8 : Bake in preheated oven until slightly browned.

Step 9 : Spread melted butter on the top of the pretzels and sprinkle grated cheese or cinnamon/sugar or almond slices. Bake again for another 5 mins & let it cool on a rack.
