Nasi Briyani

The briyani did’nt turned out as well as I expected because I added in too much liquid.

Please take note to reduce from 8 cups to 6 cups of liquid, then I think it will not taste soft & soggy as shown above.

STEP 1 : Soak 4 cups of basmati rice in 8 cups of water for 30 mins.

STEP 2 : Prepare 2 bay leaves, 2 cinnamon sticks, 10 cloves, 2 tsp cumin seeds.

STEP 3 : 1 cup green peas & 2 tomatoes quartered.

STEP 4 : 1 large onion chopped.

STEP 5 : Fry the spices until fragrant.

STEP 6 : Add in the onions & fry until slightly brown.

STEP 7 : Add in the green peas & tomatoes & stir fry.

STEP 8 : Drain the basmati rice, pour in & mix well with the ingredients.

STEP 9 : Sprinkle 2 tbsp of briyani curry powder or your favourite meat curry powder.

STEP 10 : Continue to mix all the ingredients thoroughly until the rice are evenly coated.

STEP 11 : Pour everything into a rice cooker.

STEP 12 : Pour in 6 cups of diluted chicken stock.
OK….here is where I made a boo-boo, I added in too much chicken stock – 8 cups
That is why the briyani turned out soft & soggy :(

STEP 13 : Serve with your favourite curry.
